The Right Way of Approaching Medical Billing Work

August 5, 2009 in Business by Piper Wongeh

Medical billing work is a very popular work-from-home option. Medical billing is a profitable career, but also a demanding job opportunity. However, if you approach medical billing the right way, it can bring you $30,000 – $100,000 per annum.

In the medical billing arena, one thing you must protect yourself from is numerous scams. These scams may appear legitimate, and at times they may be partly or fully legitimate, and will try to sell you useless junk. These scammers will either be totally fake, or the over-commit and under-deliver kind of people.

For instance, some scammers will promise you a list of doctors who are interested in acquiring medical billing online services. The fact is that these lists are either fake, or have for the most part any doctor out there, who may not even be looking for any medical billing online service provider whatsoever.

Medical billing work will require the following from you: a personal computer, special medical billing software and a good understanding of medical billing. When searching for an appropriate medical billing course, find out the individual prices for the software and the training. This will help you locate the most efficient and effective course.

One of the topics that you will need to become very familiar with are various codes. The codes are assigned to practically everything in medical billing, such as diagnoses, procedures, health professions etc. You will have to also become familiar with other medical billing work details, such as what you will have to do if the accounts collectible are not paid by the patients or by their insurance company, and so on.

Medical billing work is a good opportunity for someone who is willing to undergo special training and who can cover the costs of the courses and the software.

You will mostly be constrained by time. In fact, it is common that medical billing service providers work 10 plus hours per day. Don’t be too aggressive in taking work, as too much work may turn into a problem in itself. It will effect your ability to deliver quality work on time to your clients.

However, medical billing work has the appeal of freeing you from having to report to a boss. You will stay at home, close to your family, while still making money. Depending upon the amount of work you can carry out, you will be able to earn more than with a 9-to-5 job. If you are self-motivated, medical billing work will fit you well.

How much work will you have? Some companies require 30-50 medically coded invoices per week, others require more or less. Basically, if medical billing work becomes your sole income, you will be able to take on as much work as you wish.

Medical billing work is a nice opportunity for working at home. If it is approached the right way, medical billing work may become a great work-at-home opportunity. However, just like any other work, it can be tedious and involved.

Roller Conveyor Systems in Industry

July 26, 2009 in Uncategorized by Osborn Becker

A conveyor system is best for transporting materials and is used widely in industries. Conveyors help in moving bulky and heavy materials. These machines come in handy particularly for remodeling work where heavy debris need to be removed from inside an existing structure.

A modular design of the conveyor line makes carriage of materials round corners easier. Also the length and position of the line can be adjusted according to the working area. Movement of materials to and from a construction site is made easier, hassle-free and economical with conveyors.

The powered roller conveyors are very popular among the common conveyor variants, particularly in the warehousing and logistics industry. They are more robust and durable than belt conveyors and can carry the heaviest of loads. The rollers move on bearings and pre-lubricated bearings minimize maintenance cost to a great extent. Some manufacturers supply this type of low-maintenance bearings.

The rollers used in conveyors are made from mild steel, stainless steel, PVC or aluminum. The Food processing industry uses stainless steel or PVC rollers which are custom designed to spray water, thereby washing the materials being carried. Rollers used in conveyors are of various types:- Gravity rollers High speed or low noise rollers Grooved Rollers Corrosion resistant rollers Chain Driven rollers

There are three main kinds of roller conveyor systems used in the manufacturing and distributing applications and the choice of the system is based on the purpose of its usage.

Gravity roller conveyors run without power and the bearings support the rollers on the shafts. Formed or structural punched frames contain these shafts by either retaining pins or internal springs. Driven by the forces of gravity, gravity roller conveyors allow the product to be free-wheeled manually (horizontally) or to fall over a certain distance with a slight decline.

Lineshaft roller conveyors have a single shaft that runs below the rollers for the length of the conveyor frame. A number of spools are on the shaft; one spool for each roller. Rubber o-rings run from spools on the powered shaft to each roller. As electric motor on the shaft is turned on, the rubber o-ring acts as a connecting link between the spool and the roller causing rotation. The rotating of the rollers facilitates the movement of the product along the conveyor.

In pallet roller conveyors sprockets are attached to the ends of thick walled rollers, which connect them to a motor and allow for rotational movement of the rollers. Driven by chain to chain or tangential, or one common chain, drive mechanism, pallet roller conveyors have a fully enclosed side frame and an external shaft mounted motor. Electronically switched “accumulation zones” are a specialty in this type of conveyor system. Additionally different sections of the conveyor can effectively run at different speeds and can run independently of one another.

The Best Ways Of Using Powered Roller Conveyor

July 25, 2009 in Uncategorized by Jerry Holmes

Roller conveyors in industrial environments such as warehouses, production lines and packing stations can offer very significant boosts to production efficiency. There are many ways however to increase energy efficiency of these systems by paying attention to a few important factors.

Firstly choose the capacity of the motors of your powered conveyor systems wisely. To achieve utmost efficiency the motor should be run at the maximum capacity or as close to that all the time. If the weight load is variable then rather use adjustable speed drives and two speed motors. This helps in conserving power as well as in running the motor at the maximum capacity.

Lubrication is a crucial factor to efficient running. A regular and systematic maintenance schedule of chains, bearings and reducers should incorporate checking them for lubrication. Doing so will not only improve energy efficiency but also significantly improve the life span of the equipment.

Using gravity feeds as an adjunct to powered conveyors is advisable. This measure can reduce equipment installation and maintenance costs as well as reducing energy consumption. The power of gravity can be effectively used by blending power and gravity units in a system.

Turn off systems when not needed. If it is possible to switch the power off occasionally in between operations, then it is a good idea to do the same. Intelligent automated controls can be incorporated to turn off systems when not directly needed.

Design the entire system for greatest energy efficiency. In powered roller conveyor systems try to design with the longest, straight runs possible. Use as few drives as possible. In fact maybe you can power the full system with a single drive and employ efficient speed reducers.

Build in regular maintenance and downtime periods to the work schedule. By regularly shutting down the system and performing routine maintenance checks and preventative repairs you can actually improve dramatically on the up time of your conveyor system. Breakdowns and unscheduled maintenance are particularly expensive as they come without warning. When you prepare in advance for regular, short shutdowns the cost is minimal and the savings are immense.

There are simple but routine fixes that you should know as a first defense, do it yourself solution to problems. When loads accumulate in one area of the conveyor the reasons can be many. A common cause, however, is photo cells that are dirty or obstructed. These are some of the areas that you need to look into during the regular check and maintenance sessions.

An abrupt shutdown of the conveyor is most often due to accidental operation of emergency stop buttons. Keep abreast of the latest technology and install upgrades for greatest efficiency when possible.

Advances have been made in recent years that have greatly enhanced the performance of conveyor systems. The introduction of Dynamic Zone Allocation in accumulation systems is an example of such technological progress. Here the conveyor’s zone length is automatically adjusted to accommodate the length of the object in transit. This helps in a remarkable increase in the throughput of the product on the conveyor. The system automatically adjusts for any size of package it has to handle, thus removing the need to change a conveyor installation when production needs change.

Optimising Your Powered Roller Conveyor

July 24, 2009 in Uncategorized by Jerry Holmes

Roller conveyors in industrial environments such as warehouses, production lines and packing stations can offer very significant boosts to production efficiency. The energy efficiency of these systems can be optimised if a few factors are taken into consideration.

Firstly choose the capacity of the motors of your powered conveyor systems wisely. For greatest efficiency the motor should run at or near the top of its capacity most of the time. If the weight load is variable then rather use adjustable speed drives and two speed motors. This will enable them to continue to run near to the limit of their capacity whilst saving power.

Lubrication is a crucial factor to efficient running. Chains, bearings and reducers should be regularly checked for lubrication.

It is a good practice to switch the system off when not in use. If your operation allows for the intermittent turning off of power then take advantage whenever possible. The process of turning off systems when not needed can also be automated.

Design the entire system for greatest energy efficiency. Designing powered roller conveyors with the longest, straight runs as far as possible is the best. Use as few drives as possible. An effective design will be powering the whole system with a single drive and using speed reducers.

A few handy tips and easy to follow patches are available which you can use in cases of emergency. When loads accumulate in one area of the conveyor the reasons can be many. Photo cells often pick up dirt or get obstructed. Check these with regular daily maintenance.

When the conveyor shuts down for no apparent reason the cause can often be as simple as the accidental operation of emergency stop buttons. It is important to keep yourself in sync with the latest technology and upgrades available for maximum overall efficiency.

Recent technological developments have contributed towards improved performance of conveyor systems. Dynamic Zone Allocation in accumulation systems is but one example. This allows the conveyor’s zone length to be automatically adjusted according to the length of the object in transit. The result can be a significant increase in the throughput of product on the conveyor. The system becomes flexible and capable of adjusting to any size of package, eliminating the requirement of a new conveyor installation each time there is a change in the production process.
