Online Learning – The Top 5 Things You Need To Check Before You Select An Online Degree Program

December 23, 2009 in Education by John B Maxted

Pursuing an online education has become one of the more popular roads for students looking to begin or finish a degree these days. Just a decade ago there were very few people who pursued this option, and there was a very limited selection of schools that offered high quality programs. However, an online degree is extremely commonplace today, and all of the best universities and colleges offer online options. Before you select a school, keep in mind these 5 key qualities that your school must have or offer.

1. Convenience – The key selling point to an online program is how convenient and flexible that it is. You want to make sure that you sign up with an online program that is 100% online, because some are mixed with in-person classes and requirements. Also you want to make sure that the scheduling is entirely in your control.

2. Fully Accredited Diplomas – It’s great to attend a flexible school, but what’s the point if you don’t end up with a fully accredited degree? By now almost all online degrees come with full accreditation, however there are some stragglers that do not. Before enrolling with the online school of your choice, ensure that it offers legitimate and fully accredited online programs so you don’t suffer the consequences later on.

3. Class and Program Availability – A few years ago when choosing between online programs you may have had to settle for something less than perfect in terms of the classes you took and the major you were in. Now though, with so many choices you can study just about anything. Therefore, when you’re searching for the perfect online degree, find one that offers the major you want, and offers plenty of classes for you to take in that field.

4. The Latest Technology – The world of Internet and computer technology has exponentially expanded over the last few years. This means that as an online student you can get a better, more complete and more fulfilling school experience than ever before. You need to make sure that the program you sign up with utilizes all of the latest technology to ensure that you can take advantage of all of it. You’ll be impressed with how far technology has come and what you will be able to do with your online classes.

5. Acceleration – Many people are interested in the accelerated schedules that many online programs offer. If you pursue an accelerated program, you can finish an entire program in less than two years. That means less time until your new and improved career and less time until you’re ready to take control of your life. If this is what you’re looking for, be sure you find an online program which offers this option.

With an accelerated degree you will be able to begin and complete a degree in two years or less. That means that the doors to a higher paying job and a more rewarding career are right around the corner. Find an online degree that fulfills all of your requirements and one that lets you pursue an accelerated path and in just a few short years you’ll be beginning the next phase of your life.

Straight Forward Tips On How To Teach Business English

December 5, 2009 in Education by Adriana Noton

There are many different motivations for people to learn English, but one of the most common and the most in demand is for improving their business relations or to get a promotion from within their company. If you can teach business English effectively then you are well placed to get and keep profitable private students or loads of job opportunities at language institutes.

Business English teaching to either individuals or to group classes can be a very lucrative way of teaching English. Business people who are either seeking classes independently or are having classes provided by the company are usually willing to pay more than other English students. This is generally because they have to improve their language skills quickly and efficiently.

The difference between regular English language classes and business English classes is that the latter are designed to meet the specific needs of business people. Sometimes your language lessons should focus on grammar points, but are best delivered with a business focus on the subject matter.

An important aspect of teaching business English, is that many of these business people will need help with the various social customs that accompany a language. Customs and even polite conversational styles can be very different between cultures and you may need to explicitly teach them how to interact with others in a business setting.

Classes that incorporate a lot of role play into them offer a safe and practical way for them to try on the new business English they have been learning and ensure that they will be more comfortable in real situations. Many teachers of business English do not give role play its due importance and this could be a way that you can distinguish yourself as a business English professional.

You will need to change your teaching content and style to match the needs of your different business English students. Teaching business English is more diagnostic in its approach than other English teaching, because you are teaching people that have specific and varied needs with their English. Depending on their type of business, you will need to teach different kinds of vocabulary.

Business English lessons should have a strong focus on: role plays of different business situations, presentations, phone conversations, writing emails and formal letters, negotiating, customer service points and using respectful and polite language. The difference between formal and casual language is not as marked as in some other languages, but there are still grammar forms and styles that are preferable in some situations. Including lessons on how to do small talk in English is also an important point of business English.

Initially you should start your students with a conversation about what their needs and expectations of the classes are. Instead of guessing what it is they will need to practice, have them tell you straight out. This does not paint you as inexperienced or unprepared, it shows a genuine concern on your part to give your students what they need.

Teaching business English can be a profitable and rewarding type of instruction. You will find that your business students are usually very motivated and willing to learn. They tend to have high expectations of themselves and what they will take from the lesson, but through following the above tips you will have no problems.

Top Tips On How To Teach Business English

December 5, 2009 in Education by Adriana Noton

People start learning English for a variety of reasons, but one of the most in demand styles of English language instruction is business English. Many business people decide to learn English as a way to broaden their business interests overseas or as a way to get promoted within their current companies.

If you live overseas in a non-English speaking country, then you are likely to be able to find many business English students either as private students or through working at a language institute. Business students tend to be higher paying than some other English teaching jobs since they generally want to be able to improve their skills rapidly.

Business English courses are different to normal language classes. You will not only have to help them improve their grammar knowledge and all the regular skills that are taught in language levels, you will also have to provide specialized language practice in situations they are likely to encounter in the business world.

An important part of teaching business English is that you have to be able to impart social customs and expectations to your students. Doing business in different parts of the work involves differing norms and customs. Teaching them to give a firm handshake and other aspects of business are just as important as the language proficiency.

Role play is an essential part of a successful business English class. This allows your students to practise the required language they would need to cope with different business situations, which makes them prepared for when they see it in real life. Many people forget about the importance of role play, but when it comes to business English it is crucial. It will also make your students more confident in real life situations if you have taken a very communicative approach to the classes.

You will need to analyze the type of business that your students are involved in and cater to their needs. This will most likely require that they are taught specialized vocabulary specific to their individual types of business. Business English is much more diagnostic than other styles of teaching as you will have to find where the holes in their language skills are and fill them up.

Some essential components of good business English classes include: role play, negotiating in English, email and formal letter writing, learning English formal language, telephone conversations and customer service. Teaching your students how to successfully engage in small talk is also an important part of doing business successfully.

You should always start out with your business students by having an open conversation about what they require from the classes. This will make it easier for you to plan your classes and meet their needly effectively. Knowing what your client wants is a key part of having satisfied customers.

Teaching business English can be a well paid and satisfying from of ESL. You will find that business English pupils are more motivated and eager to improve than many other students. Business English students tend to improve their language skills fast, and will do even better if you put into practice the above advice.

Personal Development For Success. What Are The Alternatives?

December 5, 2009 in Online Education by Peter Stephenson

Individual growth as a young person is what I mean by Personal Development. It includes developing one’s character, and acquiring skills and know-how. Also it covers how we all mature educationally, in our careers, and in our private lives.

Understandably, the influence we receive from our parents, socially, at school and in later education, all has a significant impact on Personal Development. The bottom line however is self effort. A swimmer can be provided with the best coaches, but races will not be won until they have trained long and hard, and are self motivated to take the gold medal.

Individual growth in terms of one’s character, and in terms of one’s skills, represent two important components of Personal Development. And the third is about the growth of self inspiration to achieve. Most of us when we are young, develop personally in a Conventional manner.

This assumes the pretty standard sequencing of school, college and maybe university. Also it assumes several interests and activities outside of academia. In my study of 100 successful people who were world famous, 52% presented themselves as Conventional young people.

Other young people develop personally in more of a Specialized manner. We may have been a great guitar player, or an outstanding athlete. Our family may have been prepared, and inspired us to grow our talent in a focused way, also meaning that we left formal academic education early.

Other Specialized forms of personal development include pursuing vocations, apprenticeships or trades while still young. So developing personally in a Specialized manner, can embrace many alternatives. In researching the patterns of success behind famous people in the world, I found 24% of them were Specialized, as youngsters.

In addition to the more Specialized or Conventional forms of Personal Development, there is one more significant development option. This is Personal Development through Broad Life Experience as youngsters. In so doing, they leave the more typical pathway of academic education.

With Broad Life Experience, young people pursue their own lives, wherever this takes them. This is how they learn and acquire capability, in other words by being involved on the ground in different walks of life. This also comes about by watching other people and life happenings all around them.

So this is very hands on and focuses on reality, rather than on life discovery from a book. May call this reality university, although others may regret they did not complete advanced academic study. Of the successful people I studied, 24% engaged in Personal Development as young people, through Broad Life Experience.

Easiest Degrees – Amazing Underground Strategies For Getting The Easiest Bachelor Degree (As Quick As Possible)

December 1, 2009 in Education by Blake Maxted

As a result of the recent global financial crisis, everybody is facing difficulty in finding new work or getting promoted within their current company. As a result of this, it appears that more people are choosing to pursue a Bachelors Degree to help give them an edge. With all of this in mind, people are looking for the easiest degree they can obtain whilst still getting the full benefit from.

Firstly, you need to forget about all of the scams and tricks. You won’t be fooling anybody but yourself if you purchase a degree or signup with some unknown, unaccredited program and try to get your degree from them. Don’t try to trick the system or figure out a way to skirt by on its edges. You’re only going to be wasting your time, effort and money if you participate in one of these shady programs.

Therefore your easiest degree option also has to hold real value, and the best available solution is an online or distance learning program. One of these programs is so easy because there are no constraints on when or where you can learn from. Don’t worry about showing up in a certain city in a certain building at a certain time every day. Instead, fit your schoolwork into your schedule. As long as you complete your assignments then it doesn’t matter when you do them.

Another great benefit to the distance learning scenario is that you don’t have to ravel or commute. Commuting not only costs money and takes time, but it’s also aggravating. Worse than commuting though is realizing you have to completely uproot and move away to go to the school that you want to go to. However, getting your education through an online program allows you to study from any accredited university in the world without traveling, moving or commuting.

Another huge benefit to an online learning school is that you can finish up your degree in much less time than it would take you otherwise. By participating in an accelerated degree program, you can knock out a full Bachelors Degree in two years or less, taking classes when they are convenient to you but taking enough so that you can progress through them quickly. You’ll be well on your way to that big promotion or a whole new, more exciting and better paying career.

Don’t let stress about the economy or money or your job get you down. You can always find a way to more successful and lucrative career. Get started with the easiest degree program that you can. The Role Of Family, In The Development Of Young People

November 23, 2009 in Online Education by Peter Stephenson

Our parents and siblings have influenced all of us, as youngsters, since we were born. We observe them and learn from them. Our parents teach us how to behave.

When we are well-behaved, our parents praise us, but when we are poorly behaved, they tell us off. We often try to behave like our siblings, and sometimes we pose a challenge to them. Our neighborhood community, care as a child, where and how we are taught at school, and our friends, are all strong influences.

Influence also occurs at school, at college and university. However, the most important form of influence when we are young, is from our family, particularly from our mother and father. Positive influence from this source, usually helps us develop our principles, our attitudes towards life, how we behave, and how we work.

This endures into later life. Where such positive Family Influence exists, I call such young people who benefit from this, Protgs. According to my research audience of 100 successful world famous people, 65% of them when young, were Protgs.

Some young people, a minority however, are born into families richly endowed with wealth. Their main source of early influence may be from other sources beyond the direct control of their parents, and I call such young people Silverspoons. My research indicates’% of successful famous people were Silverspoons, when young.

Other young people, but still a relatively small number, show greater independence in the way they think and behave, when they are young. They don’t believe in following family norms. They can even rebel against their mothers and fathers, and this usually occurs when they meet obstacles in dealing with their families.

This mainly happens when the youngster feels they are devoid of love, handled in an insensitive manner, or perceived as being in the way. This can also occur when they are told off by parents whom they perceive to be setting poor examples. This can also happen when youngsters are overly managed by parents who believe in perfection.

And finally, young people can exhibit rebellious behavior when they perceive their parents to be distant, and more interested in their careers and work, rather than dedicating themselves to their children. Similarly, where two way communication is rare and is mainly one sided. The name I provide such young people is Rebels, and based on my research of world famous people achieving success in their lives, I discovered 17%, were Rebels, when young.

So what are the threats with Silverspoons? And what is the optimal way to work with Rebels as youngsters? The aim here has to be to improve their chances of survival, let alone achieving success in their lives, in the very difficult work market existing for young people today.

Distance Degrees – What You Have To Take Into Account When Selecting An Online Education Program

November 22, 2009 in Education by John Maxted

With an increasing number of individuals choosing an online education each year, it’s essential for all of these new students to learn how to differentiate between the hundreds of available programs and schools. Just a few years ago choices were limited, but increases in technology and the popularity of online schooling have made them very abundant. Therefore, you need to learn the most important pieces of a high quality online degree program that you should be looking for when it’s time for you to enroll.

At the forefront of everyone’s mind has to be accreditation. People are concerned that online schools do not have full accreditation. While it’s true that some don’t, the vast majority are now fully accredited. Just remember to double check before you get started, because you don’t want to waste any time or money with an institution that can’t provide you with a top tier degree.

Of course, most people also want to go to a school with some name recognition and a strong reputation. This is certainly a matter of personal preference, but going to a school that has a strong name will help you when you’re sending out resumes and being interviewed for jobs. Don’t worry though, because as mentioned, many of the best colleges and programs from around the world have online options now, ensuring that you can enjoy all of the bonuses that come with a school’s reputation.

When people think about an online degree program, they also tend to consider accelerated degree programs. With an accelerated program you can complete your whole Bachelors degree in less than 2 years. You can do this by keeping a busy schedule and by avoiding long breaks in between classes. If you’re interested in this you should know that this is available with many online programs, but not with all of them.

Of course, one of the key reasons people turn to online schools is the flexibility and convenience that they provide. You can work from home and you can complete your work at anytime, making your education fit into your life. Therefore, be sure that your potential school offers these flexible and convenient qualities before beginning.

Don’t forget that the cost of your online education is important as well. An online degree is almost always going to be significantly cheaper than a traditional on-campus program. However, there will certainly be differences in costs from one school to another. So be sure to compare costs and consider if any price variations come with added value that you’re interested in.

Students today have more options than ever for where they are going to school, what they want to study and how they want to accomplish their program. An online degree comes with many different benefits and advantages, just be sure to find one that satisfies your individual needs and preferences.

How To Define Success in Life, As A Young Person

November 17, 2009 in Online Education by Peter Stephenson

Since the start of the human race, succeeding in life and achieving, and becoming a success, have been constant themes. If we look at our parents and grandparents, the ways by which they considered success, are very comparable to our own. There appear to be three principal factors.

First of all, being successful means different things to different people and in different scenarios. Making a fortune is not the only definition. Success may be simply doing one’s best and making the most of one’s own abilities, whatever they may be.

It may be about making the most of your life. Not only for yourself, but also in terms of your impact on the lives of others. It may mean a combination of success in work life, family life, social life, and in life at various stages from birth through to maturity.

We only have one life, of course. We should therefore look upon success in life holistically. In other words, in a total sense, of which work and career naturally form important parts, after all, we all have to earn a living.

Secondly, success in life usually doesn’t happen by chance (although it can occur accidentally). Success is more usually as a result of a deliberate attempt to make it happen. So this means that success, whatever way people choose to define it, is invariably targeted and pursued.

I found 85% of the 100 successful world famous people I studied, rated ambition or striving for success, as important characteristics when they were young. For them, life success was more about intention. For them, life success was not just going to happen by chance.

Thirdly, life success has been considered in a similar way for three generations. So grandparents, parents and young people have comparable notions when it comes to thinking about success in life. Accordingly, influence by the family, particularly parents, is likely to be a critical aspect, at the heart of developing success in life.

Indeed, 65% of the successful people I studied, benefited from positive family influence when they were young people. This was in the form of their parents acting as role models. It was also through their specific advice.

So it’s down to you. Why don’t you try and define what you mean by succeeding in life, for yourself? Make sure this includes your career and earning an income. But also make sure that you define it in a whole life sense, as there is more to your life than just work.

If you want to find out more about Success, then visit Peter Stephenson’s site to find the most effective Career Advice to meet your needs.
