Society’s Rehearsed Soothsayers: A Wave Of The Future
A soothsayer is a false prophet who agrees to predict pleasant things even when he knows better. In today’s rotten economy there is no shortage of soothsayers. While leaders should be advising people to reduce their standard of living and concentrate on being frugal and saving, most who are in a position to lead are either silent or become soothsayers.
“…this is a rebellious people, lying children, children that will not hear the law of the Eternal” (Isaiah 30:9). Why should anyone hear the law? The law has been abolished. Right? Wrong! The false prophets and teachers teach that the law has been abolished and that we no longer need to obey that “harsh” God of the Old Testament. Actually, this is one of the major reasons the United States economy is now in the toilet. People could pray and be delivered from financial stress. However, there is a condition for having your prayer heard by God. That condition is obedience. If you turn your ear away from hearing the law, your prayer will be an abomination.
“He that turns away his ear from hearing the law, even his prayer shall be abomination” (Proverbs 28:9).
Our political leaders, for the most part, turn their ears away from hearing the law of The Almighty, as they create their own man-made laws. Most of the media act as though everything is just fine, even though the national economy has started to feed on itself. Fox is sometimes an exception to this nonsense. But, for the most part, the medial moguls are projecting a rosy future where none exists. This is nothing new. It has happened down through the centuries of time when nations find themselves at the end of their ropes.
“Which say to the seers, See not, and to the prophets, Prophesy not unto us right things, speak unto us smooth things; prophesy deceits” (Isaiah 30:10).
You can watch this on the news programs and television talk shows. If someone foretells the truth about what will happen as a result of uncontrolled spending, most of the people who run the programs will shout him down or try their best to discredit him. They generally do not want to hear bad news. What does the word of the Eternal say to people like this?
“Get out of the way. Turn aside out of the path. Cause the Holy One of Israel to cease from before us” (Isaiah 30:11). Oh, but this is only about Israel. If you think this is just about Israel you have missed the point.
“…if you be Christ’s, then are you Abraham’s seed and heirs according to the promise” (Galatians 3:29). Do you belong to Christ? Then you are considered as if you are Abraham’s seed. As Abraham’s seed, you should become an example to this sick sick world.
In fall 2009, there will be a new bumper crop of foreclosures taking place. One year previous to this, the housing crisis caused the world economy to tank. Why? It’s because of the Community Reinvestment Act, a politically correct law that required the banks to grant mortgages to low income families, knowing they could not afford the mortgages. These were called liar loans because everyone knew the application was full of lies. The result? Foreclosures. The second wave is coming in the fall of 2009. Has the government learned its lesson. No. Community investment laws are being enforced at this very moment, insuring that economic progress will remain as a faint memory of the past.
“…thus says the Holy One of Israel, Because you despise this word, and trust in oppression and perverseness, and stay thereon: Therefore this lawlessness shall be to you as a breach ready to fall, swelling out in a high wall, whose breaking comes suddenly at an instant” (Isaiah 30:12-13).
