Fun and Unusual Ideas for Christmas Parties

Just because Christmas usually evokes thoughts of cold weather and snow it does not mean that your party planning has to follow that same theme each and every year. Consider a few different Christmas party ideas, such as making this one a warm tropical theme. Send out your invitations for a beach themed Christmas party asking the guests to wear something appropriate. Decorate your Christmas tree with flower leis or themed lights that you can find at your local party store or make your own tree skirt with different beach themed decorations added.

The beach party theme can be extended to the food as well if you want. Present it in Luau fashion; just lay down some colorful blankets and decorate them with shells and plastic flowers. Because traditional Luau style food may not be easy to find you can make do by serving a baked ham trimmed with pineapple.

If you need ideas for Christmas parties for kids, then consider having a Candy Land Christmas with candy cane and lollipop party decorations. The lollipops can be made by cutting out large circles and covering them with colored plastic wrap, attaching them to dowels and placing them around the yard and house. Consider taking gumdrops and stringing them together to use as garland on the tree or other decorations for the party. A cute idea for each party invitation is to write the details on a piece of paper, roll it up like a scroll, cover it with colored plastic wrap, twist the ends and tie them with colorful ribbon or yarn.

To entertain the kids, have them create Christmas party ornaments that they can bring home, for example a sleigh made of candy. For this use two candy canes (with the hooked part facing up) for the sleigh, fasten a Hershey miniature chocolate bar about one quarter of the way down resting on both candy canes and another directly in front of it, then getting a third one and gluing it vertical with the others to resemble a seat. Then use a miniature chocolate Santa Claus, put a bit of glue on his feet and stick him to the spine of the chair. Get several small wrapped Dove bars (you can get them wrapped like gifts) and attach them to the seat like decorated presents.

If you use a little imagination, then you will no doubt come up with many other ideas for Christmas parties, such as decorating with Gingerbread people everywhere. How about a Snow Ball theme, with snowflakes hanging from the ceiling, white twinkling lights and glittery blue and white tablecloths?
