Don’t Overlook The Signs Of A Bad Relationship

A partner can give us a lot — the company and attention that we crave and want; let’s face it, nobody likes to be alone. Sometimes those things just don’t work out and even though you may have a lot of time and effort invested, be on the lookout for the signs of a bad relationship.

They say that it takes as many as five positive experiences to overcome the effect of one negative. Try and remember this when you are thinking about snapping at your partner and shelve those negative comments. One of the early signs of a bad relationship can be this constant two-way bickering, so make sure that you try and exchange loving and generous gestures and words as often as you can.

Whilst it is great to be in the company of mutual friends, quality time together is highly important and should be exclusive. Your relationship can become well-founded if you allocate time just for him and he does the same for you.

Both parties need to focus on the fact that there must be a balance between individual needs. Not being able to give and take is one of the primary signs of a bad relationship in process. Here, as in many other places, negotiation is key to solving the issue.

Whenever you sense a problem, try to resolve it as quickly and calmly as possible. Don’t let situations smolder and make it a point to never sleep on it. Buried resentments are very bad and if you are looking for signs of a bad relationship then you can be sure to find them here. Work together with your guy to find a consensus to the solution. If you find that your differences are creating friction you must turn that around and celebrate each other’s foibles. If you can find a way to appreciate his idiosyncrasies, this will be a great boost to your potential future together.

You should always own up and admit to have made a mistake at any point in your life and this goes for relationships as well. If you made a promise and broke it, try and fix it. Intransigence and a lack of flexibility are some of the primary signs of a bad relationship. Do not be tempted to cling to what you believe in at all costs; if you come from a stance of neutrality everything will be a lot easier.

Never be tempted to punish mistakes or bad behavior. This will not help you to repair the situation. You should always be flexible but you must make sure that he does his best to act the same way. Look at your relationship as between an adult and adult and not as if it were between a parent and a child.

When signs of a bad relationships seem overbearing, sit down and analyze the good versus the bad. An honest assessment may well enable you to fix the problem, but in some cases this can not be the case and you should both be prepared to move on to pastures new.
