Top Memory Developing Skills

Our brain’s capability to store and retrieve information isn’t like those of computer’s. We only wish it could be that way when we could simply improve or add something to make it work better. It doesn’t work that way though and as we age we need more and more of these memory enhancing techniques to remember as much as we could.

Having difficulty to remember important dates, places and other things would be a barrier to an otherwise normal daily living. Thus, we have to focus ourselves on improving these memory skills. One good example is by organizing ideas. Putting information in succession makes it easier for the brain to remember them. Just like the alphabet, every bit of information is digested relative to the ones connected to it. Let us say, conceptualizing an outline or associating ideas with something closely related to it would be a good example.

Oftentimes, when we forget things we tend to remember them through past events. Like, leaving your keys for instance, you try to recall where you left it by trying to figure out what you did or where you were prior to your location now. This is one of those memory enhancing techniques that works for us in general. Another technique is through the use of vivid imagery. Most of the time, we try to remember people’s names this way. This is also an excellent process when trying to memorize important dates, names and events for a certain examination. For example, you could associate the color red or green to something more vivid like a heart or a carpet of grass.

Another one to top our list of memory enhancing techniques is by saying the idea out loud. We do this before a speaking engagement, a recital, a stage play, a panel interview and so on. We say the ideas and remember them as they come out of our mouth. Yes, it is a tried and tested technique that actually works for so many—–the importance of talking to oneself no matter how silly it may sound. A variation to this technique is saying ideas out loud this time with the help of your group mates or associates so that you could practice a lot better.

It would be great if you imagine yourself as an expert in the field that you are about to discuss. This way, you will have a one hundred percent motivation to give it your all as opposed to memorizing facts and ideas just for the sake of doing so.

In the end, practice really makes memorizing these ideas perfect. You have to go back, recover the data or information in your mind and actually try to retain them. There is no easy way to memorize ideas. All you have to do is find the right technique that might actually work for you. There is a long list of approaches to a better memory. Pick some that you think might be helpful as you go on with life.

Cyberpunk Scifi Literature : The Alpha Centaury Project By Marco Santini – Story

A near future.

Humankind lives on Earth and the Moon, remaining fortresses of its past power. The Red Planet and the Net are inhabited by the digital creatures: superintelligences and souls, these last made by digitizing the brain after death. The virtual reality, a perfect reproduction of the tangible world, permits the two races to be in contact.

Nevertheless their difference is deep, their aims conflicting.
The digital creatures can go on the Earth just for a few days, settling themselves in the body of androids and robots. Aside from that, they’re relegated in worlds too small for their unbounded aspirations…

The Earth is a kind of paradise. With mind digitization, humans have deferred actual death to an undetermined future. Nevertheless they are not happy. Towards the digital people they feel respect and resentment but also inferiority and a lot of rage.

After death, they are going to be part of the virtual population, but meanwhile they must cope with their weaknesses, and face the other population that seems to have none.
In both people, an intense uneasiness spreads, culminating in outbursts of hostility. Not even their association in the Government, will avoid war one day.

Towards mid-century, the virtual beings begin wondering if it really makes sense to occupy the Earth, partly from moral considerations – their attention for differences and their origin – but essentially because their aims are changing. Their Martian test has allowed them to build on the skills required in space worlds, above all to achieve the trust essential for a huge mission: the colonization of new star systems. The project obtains the humans’ cooperation, in exchange for the rejection of any occupation of the Earth.

The construction of three starships proceeds fast. They’re completed within a five-year-period. However just before leaving, Security intercepts a suspect transmission from NASA. Terrorism? The investigation leads to the Elects, a a group of fanatics that got into Net fifty years before with a collective suicide. Traces of the Elects have disappeared for a long time but the sanguinary terrorist attacks appear to refer back to them. Who is hiding behind them? Above all, what do they want?

Review of The Alpha Centauri Project :

Tension, struggle, but also considered thoughts. The main characters move in a future context of epoch making events, becoming progressively involved in the sufferings of their community to the point of becoming leaders.

And their world, alien at the beginning, gets plausible from the continuous references to the current world until it seems an obvious result. From this, a powerful and worrying comparison with our current society comes out; that stripping away page after page of conventions and preconceptions, leaves us eventually face to face with the nature and basic values of a Man.

In the book, these same elements will provide Humankind with the strength to take audacious choices for its own future. Meanwhile, AI reveals itself as the means of evolutionary progress towards higher knowledge and sharing .

Astronomy Facts – A Quick Read

How many astronomy fact can you think of? Consider that there are somewhere around 1 x 10 ^22 stars in the universe, that’s a one followed by 22 zeros. Then consider that many of those stars have planets surrounding them. Then consider all the moons that orbit the planets, the comets and asteroids, the galaxies these stars form, the nebulae and black holes and everything else out there. It’s a lot to consider. This article, which presents astronomy facts, certainly won’t contain every fact. Walked is here, however, is interesting.

The data on the brightest star as seen from Earth are good astronomy facts. The son, about 250,000 times closer than the next star, isn’t counted here. We get so much light from the sun that when it shines none of the other stars can be seen. Keep in mind that in the scale for the magnitudes given, lower numbers are brighter. The son is approximately 26.73, with the full moon weighing in at -12.6. And now to the top five.

#5 is the Arabic word for eagle or vulture, Vega. This star has a magnitude of .03, and is 25 light-years from Earth. When looking at these astronomy facts remember that brightest from Earth doesn’t mean largest or brightest. The Sun is not the largest or brightest star in the universe or even the galaxy, yet it appears so bright because it is so near compared to other stars.

#4 goes to Rigel Kentaurus, or foot of the centaur. It scores a magnitude of -.01, and is only 4 light-years from Earth.

At #3, is Arcturus, according to the astronomy facts we know. In Greek that means guardian of the bear. Arcturus is 37 light-years from Earth.

Canopus comes in at #2. In reality it’s the brightest of all of these top five stars. However, it’s 313 light-years away from Earth, so it looks second brightest as seen from this planet. -.62 is its magnitude is seen from the planet Earth.

#1 is the Greek word for scorching, Sirius. Sirius is also known as the Dog Star because it’s the brightest star in the constellation of Big Dog. It’s only 9 light years from Earth. That’s second closest of these top five. At -1.44 magnitude it’s the brightest star we can see from Earth.

This information doesn’t even scratch the surface of astronomy facts. But it’s something to consider next time you look into the sky.

More fun facts about astronomy

Astronomy is a fun science filled with many astronomy fun facts. This includes information about the size of stars and the distance of our earth from the center of our own Milky Way galaxy. All of this information can be recalled to entertain and enlighten people.

The Sun is a great source of astronomy fun facts. Measurements show it between 91 and 94.5 million miles from Earth. It isn’t that scientists don’t know. It’s that the Earth orbits the sun in an elliptical, uneven, orbit. The distance varies depending on where the Earth lies in that orbit.

The size of our son also provides many astronomy fun facts. 98% of all the matter in our solar system is inside the Sun. Even with Jupiter on our side, we’re still a measly 2% of non “the sun” stuff. Over 1.6 million earths would fit inside this star. An AU is the distance from the Earth to the Sun. The solar winds extend 50 AU’s from the sun.

Shall we turn to some astronomy fun facts that don’t have to do with the sun? Isn’t the moon interesting? In all the universe man has only walked upon the earth and the moon. And one human man actually traveled to the moon but never left it. Dr. Eugene Shoemaker didn’t make the cut for astronauts. But when he died he was cremated and his ashes spread over the moon in 1999.

There are even more astronomy fun facts covering the moon. Ralph Kramden, in the hit TV series Honeymooners, constantly threatened to send his wife to the moon. In 1988 13% of people questioned believed the moon is made of cheese. And finally the suits worn by the moon walking astronauts weighed 180 pounds on Earth but only 30 pounds on the moon. I’d bet the astronauts thanked their lucky stars for that.

There are astronomy fun facts about faraway objects too. The stars we see are a gateway to the past. It can take millions of years foe light from some stars to reach us. It could be that some of those stars blinked out long ago. The number of stars in the sky is a one followed by 22 zeros. Oh boy that’s a lot.

There are even more astronomy fun facts. But this article can’t. Learn more for yourself.
